In today's world, it seems impossible to stay on the right path. What used to be considered taboo is now the norm. Everywhere you look, the world is pushing sexualization onto us. From clothing ads to music, and yes, even children's cartoons.
Morality seems dead, we are taught that almost everything should be accepted and that there are no consequences for our actions. God's name has been taken out of our schools, our workplace, even our celebrations. In a world like this, can we still live for Christ? Is it even worth it? Yes! We can still shine His light. But in order to do that, we must be willing to take the chance to be different. How can we be different you ask? If you are willing to lend me a few moments of your time I believe I can help.
Make Time For GodTo live like Christ, you must first have a relationship with Him. Make time each day to get into His word. What better way to learn to live like Christ than to learn how Jesus himself lived? Paul wrote to Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:16 that "All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.".
Don't Fall Victim to "Harmless" Shows
Television shows may seem like harmless entertainment, but a lot, especially prime time TV, are not. They are laced with sexual content, violence, and often promote immorality. If you would not accept your significant other looking at another half-naked person in your bedroom, then why would you accept it just because it is on TV?
Now I am not saying that "TV is the devil" because there are good shows out there, I am just saying to choose wisely. We can not live for Christ if we are allowing our minds to be corrupted just for the sake of entertainment.
Forgive When You Shouldn't
What!? Forgive when you shouldn't, what does that even mean? I know it may sound odd, even impossible, but we are not cut from the same cloth. In today's world, forgiving those who have wronged you is often looked upon as weak, or naive. But, we are called to be in the world, not of it.
Forgive others as Christ has forgiven you. By doing so, you are not only free others, you are freeing yourself. When you hold onto grudges, it creates bitterness inside and bitterness will eat you alive. It can cause anger, sadness, and it can eventually leak into your everyday life. No one wins when that happens.
As Paul said, "In everything pray". Prayer is not just for troubled times, it is also for guidance. When you do not know how to handle a situation, turn to God in prayer.
Living in today's world will definitely present you with many moments that will make you stumble, so be steadfast, pray, and get into the word of God. By doing this, you are putting on the full armor of God, and can take comfort in knowing He will show you how to live for Him.
